Deputy Secretary of Information Technology State of Maryland
As Deputy Secretary of IT for the State of Maryland, I am a member of the executive team and a trusted adviser. I am leading change, motivating teams, influencing strategic plans, and forging a lean-agile organizational culture. I am proud to advance Governor Hogan’s priorities of Reform, Efficiency, Customer Service, and Changing Maryland for the Better. We are successfully implementing an Enterprise Model, bringing the agencies together to efficiently and securely operate our IT platforms so we can focus on our core mission; serving the people – and businesses – of Maryland.
My main area of focus has been to improve the end-to-end solution delivery process. I am an advocate for agile transformation at the enterprise level, modernizing the state SDLC, program management, and oversight processes with a great team. We are modernizing procurement strategies to support agility, updating our policies to back up the transformation, and busting organizational silos to tackle big challenges together with our partner agencies.
My 15+ years of experience including applications expertise and over a decade of fruitful agile transformations has proved useful. I am also honored to be learning from my colleagues and partners who have taken our ambitious goals as their own. As an IT leader in a $40B organization with over 50 departments, an $800M major IT development project portfolio, almost $1B of IT procurement awarded annually, and more than 50k state employees serving 6M Marylanders, we rely on all of our state resources to deliver a modern citizen-centered digital government.
